I adore the Great British Bake Off and I was very excited to settle down to the first episode of the new series last night with a homemade scone and homemade jam. Store bought would have been sacrilege, just imagine Mary Berry's disapproval!
What did you think of the new contestants? I'd love to see a Gogglebox of people watching the Great British Bake Off. In our house there were lot's of tense breathing through teeth moments as they rolled their Swiss rolls, tense viewing for week one!
Last year, Trevor and I baked along every week, trying some of the challenges that the contestants had faced on the show. I wasn't sure about doing it again this year, it was a lot of work and we ate an awful lot of cake, not that I didn't enjoy eating it (it was amazing) but when I looked backed at all the photos of our bakes I did feel a bit of a glutton.
After watching just that one episode last night I've completely changed my mind and I'm raring to go with the Bake Along challenge. Last night the theme was cake. What should we make? I have a Pinterest page of decorated Swiss rolls, then that cherry cake looked amazing and we bought a ring shaped pan last year for the angel cake and haven't used it since.
