Foodie Trip to Barcelona #BarcelonaGems

Next year it's my thirtieth birthday and I want to celebrate it with something special. For Trevor's thirtieth we went to Belgium and had a wonderful time eating our way across the country. I think I'd like to do something similar for my big three-oh but faced with so many amazing places to visit I've been having trouble narrowing it down.

I've been doing a bit of research and Barcelona is one of the places that I've been considering so when I spotted the Holiday Gems competition to win a trip to Barcelona by writing a four day itinerary I thought I'd better give it a go. I don't have any photos for this post as I prefer to use my own (this saves me having any copyright drama) so lets hope I get to go to Barcelona and take some amazing pictures that'll have you drooling into your keyboard.

My trip would include mostly food, if needed a little gastro break, I might squeeze in a bit of shopping along the rambla de Catalunya. There is certainly plenty of culture to take in Barcelona but I'm more interested in the Catalonian cuisine.

First up would be an early morning trip to La Boqueria food market. You can't beat the hustle and bustle of a food market in full swing. I want to get right in there and have a good smell of all those stalls heaving with local produce.

There would be tapas and lot's of it, I'd like to spend a relaxed evening nibbling on butifarra. I've also heard that they have great patissiere in Barcelona and I'd like to try some crema Catalana.

Being so close to the sea we'd have to have a boat trip with a fresh catch for supper. Perhaps some paella or fideuas. I'm also picturing a little local run place for escudellla, do you know a good spot?

For Trevor we'd have to pop by La Cervesera Artesana, they brew their own beer on site. I'd also like to do a cheese and wine tasting because I know there are some great cheese being produced in the area.

That's quite a lot of food to fit into just three days, I think there might need to be a follow up city break too.
