Last week I wrote a post on nettle soup and this weekend I was on a walk gathering wild garlic, there's a whole bounty of other dishes that I plan on making now that Spring has sprung.
I'd love to know more hedgerow recipes for my collected bounty too so I thought I'd start a monthly challenge, the Nature's Lunchbox Challenge.
How To Enter
Write a recipe post using at least one foraged ingredient, post it on your blog.
A link to these rules and the Nature's Lunchbox button should both be included in your post.
Visit at least one other blog on the linky list, the idea is to be sharing recipes so don't post and run join the fun :)
The food should be foraged, not store bought or cultivated at home
The post should be something you have foraged recently to give people a change to try and hunt some out for themselves
You can add as many different recipes per month as you like
Your post should be linked using the linky tool and should display the Nature's Lunchbox logo along with a link back to this post which explains what the challenge is.
Keep foraging site details vague, you don't want a stampede of readers clearing your wild mushroom supply but make reference to which country you are in and the type of location you might find them item ie. shaded woodland spot in the UK, on the beach etc
Foraging Do's and Don'ts
This is designed to be a fun challenge but as always take care to protect yourself, some plants are poisonous so do not pick anything unless you are 100% sure that you know what it is.
Be careful where you are picking some areas are protected, some are sprayed with pesticides.
Ask the landowners permission on private land.
Don't disturb wildlife or decimate a whole crop, leave some for the next person and the nearby wildlife to enjoy.
